The Feminist Journal of Geography

Winchester, VA – In this Celestial Musings, you learn something new everyday. Today, I have learned that there is a journal called the Feminist Journal of Geography, and-get this- there are actually women out there wringing their hands over the fact that because white males tend to be cited more in geographical literature, said citations are contributing to “marginalization of women, people of color, and those othered through white heteromasculine hegemony.” The women making this assertion in the Journal suggest that resistance can be offered by citing works of women, people of color, etc. But beware, because if you do this, you risk, “basing assumptions of gender or cisnormativity on particularly gendered names.”
