Winchester, VA – In this Celestial Musings, MIT Technology Review is reporting that for the first time, a team of researchers has used the gene-editing technique CRISPR to genetically modify a human embryo. Shoukhrat Mitalipov, who spearheaded the effort, is said to have broken new ground in both in the quantity of tiny humans he has experimented upon and in successfully demonstrating that it is possible to correct defective genes which are at the root of genetic diseases. The technology is not foolproof, however, and has a long road of development before success can be declared—but frankly, this is abhorrent and should be abandoned altogether. You don’t create babies to destroy them, not even for medical progress. Quite simply, you don’t play God. This will not end well.
