Winchester, VA – In this Celestial Musings, La Croix is showcasing Filipino Redemptorist Brother Ciriaco Santiago. Brother Jun, as he is called, has for the past 3 weeks been making the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, walking some 800 kilometers from St. Jean Pied de Port in France to the tomb of Saint James at the Santiago de Compostela church, to draw awareness to drug-related killings back home in the Philippines. Since President Rodrigo Duterte declared an “all-out war” against narcotics last year, around 10,000 suspected drug users and dealers have been murdered, mostly in Manila. Back at home, with the help of local photojournalists, he collected thousands of pictures of the victims of the drug war, and has been leaving these pictures along the Camino with notes calling for an end to the slaughter. May God protect him on his journey and bring about an end to this senseless killing.
